'Bwthyn y Gilfach' holiday cottage is part of a former 1000 acre sheep farm and mill situated in the picturesque Cwm Pennant Valley in the spectacular Snowdonia National Park. Now a 50 acre private estate with its own woods, waterfall and river it offers breathtaking views, no matter what time of year, over neighbouring mountain Moel Hebog and beyond (783 metres vs. Snowdon’s 1085m)

With its mountains, woodlands, streams, waterfalls, walks, rare birds and wildlife you need never leave the valley during your stay. For those more adventurous it is ideally located as a base for exploring the most beautiful mountains, beaches and attractions that North Wales and Snowdonia has to offer.

Situated only a 10 minute drive from the main A487, 20 minutes from Porthmadog and 15 minutes to Criccieth and local beaches. Snowdon is approximately a 30 minute drive.

FROM THE NORTH: Take the A55 towards Bangor. At Bangor take the A487 south toward Caernarfon. Go through the villages of Pant Glas and Bryncir. Pass the two signs to Garndolbenmaen and after the second sign take the first left at the bus stop signposted 'Cwm Pennant'. After two miles bear left at chapel and red phone box and over a cattle grid. Go past Plas Pennant Holiday Cottages, through a second cattle grid and Gilfach is 250 yds further on through the gate on the left, set back in trees. Take the middle gate up a farm track.


FROM THE SOUTH: From M6 take junction 10A onto M54. The M54 eventually becomes the A5 - follow signs for Llangollen(A5). Stay on the A5 through Llangollen, then after Corwen follow the signs for Bala(A494). As you enter Bala you'll go over a bridge, then turn right following the signs for Porthmadog(A4212). At the A470 junction, turn right following the signs for Porthmadog (A470 becomes A487). On the A487 you'll drop down into a valley and come to the village of Penrhyndeudreath. After about a mile you'll come to a roundabout which is the start of the new by-pass - turn right onto the A487 and go across 2 roundabouts - still following the A487 towards Caernarfon. After about 4 miles, you will come to a sign "Dolbenmaen" and "Pont Dolbenmaen/Afon Dwyfor" - about 100 yards further turn right at bus stop signposted 'Cwm Pennant'. After three miles bear left at chapel and red phone box and go over a cattle grid. Go past Plas y Pennant Holiday Cottages, through a second cattle grid and Bwthyn y Gilfach is 300 yds further on through the gate on the left, set back in trees. Take the middle gate up a farm track.
